OLD CATS
The last Burke's backyard brought all kinds of old Australian Mists out of the woodwork:
here are a couple of the tales:
Val emailed me; her boys are only ‘reject’ in the sense that they were not full register, BJ is a stunning blue spotted tabby, and  Bruno is a wide eyed chocolate spotted tabby.

My Two ‘Reject’ Boys
From the time that BJ (the mischievous, out going one) and Bruno (the one who prefers to cuddle up in a lap) joined our household they have been fabulous companions. Whilst they don’t meet the ‘true’ mist criteria in looks, they most certainly have inherited great personalities and temperament. Visitors who claim to hate cats have been won over soon after they have stepped into the house. BJ makes a point of being noticed. He climbs up to face level of every visitor or tradesman who enters the house and demands to be acknowledged. He particularly likes checking out open bags - especially if they have lipstick or  some small item he can remove. He is quite a show-off. He does forward rolls over people’s feet and will retrieve anything thrown for him to chase.

It didn’t take them very long to work out how to open doors. Many a time we have come home to find the contents of cupboards strewn throughout the house or pushed into their hidey-hole under the fridge.
Even though they’re more than 8 years old they still get the ‘maddies’ and chase each other around the house, often up the screen door and then onto the top of the back door.
I’m so glad that I saw the Spotted Mist when they first appeared on Burke’s Backyard.
Regards, Val Nixon.

MOLLY
Janice Huntington contacted me after the recent Burke’s backyard segment, to tell me about her Spotted Mist, Molly Moon. After a bit of discussion, I realised that she was the full sister of Nintu Freya, much loved by me, the mother of the first full register litter of Spotted Mist.
Molly was born on 21st February, 1985, and called by me Nintu Frith. Her parents were Nintu Valinor, and Nintu Tsuga, and she was, like Freya, blue spotted.

Janice writes:
As you can see by the birth date she is now a grand old lady of 15 years. She has always been in perfect health until recently when she had some trouble with her kidneys and the vet said he thought it was just a matter of time.
However, she is OK now.
She has always been a gentle, lovable, sweet natured cat who has given us much joy and we will miss her terribly when the time comes.
At 15 we feel that she has had a great life and every day is a bonus.
Janice enclosed some photos - including one taken just before she wrote - Molly does look like a very old lady, with most of her spots faded, but still the same lovely eyes as Freya. The photo of her in her prime, with the aged Siamese Pepe, and Snow Possum (an aby that Janice also bought from us) shows her lovely spots at their best.
