My Life Story

When I was born I had chickenpox and the doctor said my mother can go home but I must stay in the hospital for one more week. she told him that she would stay with me in the hospital. I did not get well that week in the hospital, my mother took me to the temple in Penang when I got out of hospital. She put me under a God named kali. When she was praying and I got well. My mother gave me the name Kalichandran. My mother's name is Sandra; her age is 51 now. Story of my mum.. My house is made of wood and under my house there is dirty water. It has one room.

In Butterworth we've got many dirty things around our village, and the dirty things are from the factories. The MPSP the rubbish collectors are too lazy to come and collect the rubbish from the village and it makes the place dirty. In Butterworth we have many temples like the Indian temple, Christian churches, a Chinese temple and a mosque.

My mother use to leave me at my Auntie's place when she went to work. One day I asked my auntie for a glass of water and she took a saucepan and hit me on the head so hard that it was bleeding, When my mother heard what happened she got a shock. She asked my aunt what happed and she said I had fallen down, but the neighbour told my mother what happened. My mother quickly took me to the doctor. The doctor told my mother that if she left me in my aunt's house she wo uld kill me. From that day she left me at home and I did not get to see here because she went to work at 6:30 am and came back at 11pm or midnight.

When I was seven years old my mother's friend told her that a Sister named Colette was coming to teach English, Maths and Malay to the children like me in her house in our village. I first met Sister at my house when she came to visit me. Sister Colette. Sister had a friend called Linda and she took me for a month and taught me the Alphabet. After a month Auntie Linda and Sister Colette took me to a primary school and asked the headmaster if I could go to his school in grade one. But the headmaster told sister that I couldn't go to year One because I was to old. He said I could go straight into grade two and he took us to the class. We went to Two A and two boys said they had a place for me and I went in to that class and started to study. I was learning Maths, English and Malay. I was doing very well. When I was naughty I got the cane. I was going to scho ol in the morning and to Sister Colette's in the afternoon. Through Sister I knew many people like Auntie Allouette and Auntie Sabine and Uncle Jean Claude

Anil Netto, my godfather. One day when I was in grade three, about five children were beating my friend. When they were beating him I went and helped him. I also mat Auntie Rita and Uncle Nate in the middle of the year when auntie came to teach at Sister Colette's place.

At Sister's house there was a volunteer who was teaching Sister's class, her name was Olivia. She asked Sister if she could take me to her house in Penang. Sister said she could take me and her house was near were auntie Sabine and her husband were staying. Her family was from Australia. I went and stayed in her house over the holidays, she was good to me and she had three children, one boy and two girls. We used to go swimming together. In 1996 Auntie Olivia and family had to come back to Australia. In the same year we had a fire in our village and ten houses burnt down. Luckily my house did not burn down.

1997 When I was in year Seven many Indian and Chinese children fought each other. Once when my friend and I were eating lunch there was a fight between a Year Nine Ind ian boy and a Year Seven boy. The next day the Year Nine boy brought two vans. One full of Year Nine children and the other van was full of hockey sticks and they started to fight again. The police had to come to the school. The police station is next door to the school and they have to stop the fights when it gets to serious. There are over thousand children in the school, they did not study at school most of the time and the teachers didn't give us homework very often.

I decided to come to Australia beca use I wanted to study here. I was not happy at home and school in Malaysia. I was not happy at home because drug addicts surrounded my mother and me. At school the children always fought and did not work and too dangerous.

My life in Australia is good. I like Marist Sion College. It is better than the school in Malaysia. I like all my subjects and teachers in the school. I live in Newborough with Uncle Clem and Auntie Elizabeth. I like the house because it is big and nice to live in. I played soccer for N e wborough and liked it I came form a soccer family. When I came to Australia I learned how to play footy. I like it; I play footy in school and barrack for St Kilda. I gave up soccer and started umpiring football. I have umpired for the last three years and in that three years I have done very well. Last year I did the thirds Grand Final and got very good with my running has the years went on and last year I also won the Encouragement award. This year I did the WGFL V Bellarine Under 15's and Under 17's Interleague games and the Under 17's Mid Gippsland Football league V Ellinbank District Football League Interleague game. I also did the Seconds Grand Final and won the advisors award this year.

I got picked to be the Loretto House captain for 2002. At the end of last year I did a speech in front of the house and the student voted. I was interviewed by Mr Centra the Head Of House and one of the tutors Mr Hearnes. The following day all the people who got interviewed went to see Mr Centra. After talking for a little while he told us who got the job and it was me and Ellen Rijs who got the job of being the 2002 Loretto House Captains.

We started back on friday the 1st of Feb. It was only the Year sevens ten and twelve who came back today and we had assembly and Mr Holt the principal welcomed the year sevens and the others and the College Captains did the same. After that we went to house assembly and Mr Centra said a few things and we went to tutor group. After been to tutor group I got some of the year sevens organise.

I have been doing well at school. Did well helping the house during the swimmming sports. We came last in the swimming sports because of the lack of participation. I did well in the 1500m event as well I made the top ten coming 8 and Loreto house did well too because we had some good runners. We will have our athletics next tuesday the 23 of April and we are hoping that we will be able to do well at the atthletics.

We did do well in the athletics by coming 4 overall which was good to now. I did well even though i did not get a place in any of my races.
