This is a piece I did as a homage to Shelly Watson
Davie one of my colleagues at Drouin. I was playing with the mirror idea and
Shelley has done things to do with fairgrounds and murderers! She also has
an interest in skeletal remains so this piece has a magical inner
space with a merry go round horse done as a skeleton. My wife Marian did the
sewing of the tent fabric for me. |
Another junk table |
and another mosaic table |
This small piece went to Mirboo North Art show and came back unloved! |
I had done a flower table before but I had the base lying around from
another sculpture and I though a bent flower would be fun. |
The Bird in the seat was inspired by a piece at Art Melbourne and this is
the first time I have combined a pictorial form with the junk patterning
within a furniture piece. This also went to Mirboo North and generated two
more orders for something similar |

For Mirboo North I wanted to do some of my little characters and I liked the
swing idea I did a while ago but thought the tree would be good with
the steel wool. Someone loved this . |
The second character to go to Mirboo North and I wanted to do a person with
their hands behind their back near a window. Lots of ambiguity |
This is the first of the big wheel pieces I did. I was initially very happy
with it but when I did the others I thought the thickness was not enough so
I changed it and tidied up aspects of the roundness. It looks really good
now and I called it Economy 2. This piece went to Art Recycle exhibition in
Melbourne at the Incinerator Gallery( designed by Walter Burley Griffin...
as an incinerator!) |
