We have an exhibition at Morwell at the regional arts gallery of just our
own work so I have done a variety of pieces ( all using junk). This one is
called Identity and involves us holding up an image to others which is
bigger and less substantial than us really. The image is cobbled together of
stuff we have accumulated through our lives. |
This
is the second Morwell piece and is a bit of a reflection on our trip to
China. It is called Economy and really is based on a Chinese coin but
is really about the variety of enterprises which make up a unity. |
This is the third Morwell piece and it is called Bridge. It is not fully set
up here as it will be presented on a mirror strip and hence the circle will
be complete but not really there. It will link the visible with the
invisible. |
This one is also going to Morwell and is called Bear headed for obvious
reasons. It uses a rabbit trap as the mouth( like the wild dog ) and in some
ways is a direct relation to the wild dog. However the hair under the chin
is made up of squashed tube and looks great. ( at least I think so) |
I am only putting in the skipping girl in Morwell but I am doing a series on
Childhood. The one with the balloon is a direct response to a visit we made
to the Maribyrnong open artists studios where a jeweller was using a bottle
jack to form different shapes. I used the wood lathe to make up male and
female shapes to make the balloon. |
A former colleague sent me some photos of her garden and asked me to do a
seat. This is the result ( of which although it is a bit abstract I am happy
with) |
a more plainer seat with treated pine instead of the Mirbeau |
A gate to a garden. The gate was supplied and each rectangle is filled woith
something except one! |
Another seat |
a gate for the same person but with a grape vine leaf theme |
