Love
is in the air
This seems to be the middle part of
the love trilogy. In the first with the girl flying the kite, this one with
finding a mate and the third still hoping is after a range of trials and
tribulations.
One of my friends
at school was doodling a series of hearts in a meeting and it
suggested heart trees to me. With the addition of the characters it seemed
to make a neat story and set of images. I guess the use of hearts is a bit
kitsch but then again I like using symbols ( big X and arrow) and for this
theme I feel that if I want to use hearts I will!! The hearts are up and the
title suggested itself immediately. As to the picture well, this is my love
and she has been a big part of getting this exhibition organized.

Flying boat 2
I did a flying boat for the Yarram
exhibition and it was a boat with sails for wings. ( it sold!)
For this exhibition I had another
idea and I liked the idea of the boat being supported by the fisherman’s
line . I
guess it is not really a flying boat but it sort of matches the up idea.
This is the first piece I have incorporated a "ground line" ie the waves and
I have ideas using this device for other pieces.

Blown away
I guess as a guy ,girls dresses are a real interest and the idea that the
wind could get under( ala Marilyn Monroe) and actually lift the person away
just seems fun. |

Bubble Girl
This is another piece which
has come together at the last minute. I bought a small linocut last year
from a girl ( Larissa McFarlane) at the open
studios in Maribyrnong. It was of a small girl blowing bubbles. I have done
a series on childhood pastimes and the idea immediately suggested itself as
a possible piece. I borrowed the oxy from school so I could do the bubbles
from fine wire and obviously the bubbles are "up"

I did this seat for a friend whose husband had recently died .The images
were what she chose. He was a lovely man |
just another dog but with a slightly different form. I did a good range of
dogs and birds this month as usual! |
Opening
the Up exhibition and there were about 140 people there. Unfortunately the
next day was Black Saturday so the next weekends were not as jam packed.
None the less we still all sold work. |
This exhibition was held at the Old Drouin Butter Factory and I was
partnered by Joan Price and Helen Timbury. Here is us setting up the
exhibition |
Some of Joan's paintings and textiles above my work. |
Here
is Sue Osborn explaining a point to me. ( I am always surprised by this old
grey haired fella who keeps turning up in my photos) |
