April work

April was a giant month for me. We  went back to China for 12 days, started my long service leave heading toward retirement , came back to do Art Melbourne  with Serigraph Gallery and BSG gallery where we sold lots of work and did work for the red exhibition.
is piece is from the old song Red sails in the sunset.
T
read/read this was a piece for the RED exhibition and it sold during that exhibition. It is me playing with my new plasma cutter and creating the word Read which can be read as red ( well sort of). I mounted it on a book form and in playing with how to present it it looked more dynamic on an angle and this is also practical as it allows any water to run off/out.
One of my friends is an an  unstoppable traveller and she asked for a piece to be made for her. I made this little determined girl( it has a back pack  to) and we decided to call her INTREPID. this is a commission to do a pair of people from a photo for their combined 40th. It is life size although I think I might have been a bit harsh to the man. He looks a touch older!
a gate commission. back of star  front of star When we went to China, someone bought a hat with a star on it. When we came home I made a bigger shiny version with lots of junk behind it as I feel this is how the chinese present much of their society. All front but very chaotic behind . Need less to say it is part of the RED exhibition
male air head I have been enjoying using colour as part of my work and I made this slightly surreal piece and called iitted well with the Red exhibition but I had forgotten I had listed it to go to the Mirboo North Art Show. I rapidly made a female airhead too but that is in Mays work. spin red This piece spins on an axle. The sides spell out the letters to make RED so doubling this makes REDDER
Tinis sculpture This was a big piece as a commission.   for the Red exhibition I did this combination of Magic carpet and red carpet. It has great movement as you walk past it
