This
did this piece as a play on the phrase reds under the bed.( a bit of China
still!) |
I did two versions of the butterfly girl.I saw a logo for a jazz festival
and the butterfly characters were just standing . Mine at least fly! |
I
had done a rain girl once before but at Art Melbourne someone said they
would like one with a red umbrella so of suggested i do one for the
Red exhibition. |
Stop is a combination of a character from the Inspired exhibition and the
pram from a new direction. Their relationship suggests that like King Canute
trying to stop tide the toughest authoritarian figure can't stop us getting
older. The red of a stop sign is captured by the baby carriage and I think
it works well. |
I reckon I got this one almost perfect. There is a lovely young teacher at
school who has a great collection of shoes. She had a spectacular pair of
red shoes and of course this suggested itself for the exhibition. Having got
the pose just right I called her Dorothy to reference the red shoes in the
Wizard of Oz( apparently in the book they were silver but technicolor
suggested Red was a better choice!) |
