I seemed to get even busier in July. I did a number of seats and this is one
of them
|
.Another seat |
this piece I did last year but it was not presented very well. I mounted
it and added another leaf and entered it in a sculpture show. |
I did a series of balloons and really liked the form. When another small
sculpture show came up I did this piece called "aspirants" and it is about
how we aspire and climb ladders without really looking as to where we
are going. It has a number of characters competing, climbing ladders and
discovering a trapdoor into the earth. The female character is not climbing
yet because she is answering her mobile phone! |
I sold worried at the Meeniyan exhibition so I did it again for someone else
who liked the form. It is slightly different but still effective. |
Marian
bought me a sign for my "studio" now that I am spending more time in it. It
was designed by Helen Timbury and features one of my first big junk
sculptures. I think I look at my best in this picture, fat , ugly and coated
in dirt. |
This is another modified piece. It originally stood flat on its base and it
looked good but very formal. It is interesting how much more dynamic it now
looks and it has a wood en base added. |
This is yet another modified piece. It was originally brown and I
have added fish to the surface on both sides and filled it with roadside
rubbish. And I painted it blue. Its a much stronger statement I think and I
entered it in another sculpture show. |
This isn't really work as it was done for the Meeniyan
exhibition. I had elisabet in mind as she had asked for a big dog. She didn't
mean it to be this big but Snarl found owners through the exhibition so I
just thought this photo was appropriate. |
This is one of three pieces that are for a show at Port
Fairy where
they give you a book and you create work which responds to it. My book was
Marie Curie about the great Polish Scientist who discovered Radium. As a
child she focused so much on her reading that her siblings built a stack of
chairs around her and she didn't notice until she got up and they all fell on
her. |
