I had my retirement function at school and lots of people came and it was a
lovely night. There were a number of people who worked behind the scenes to
make it good such as the cooking girls and the lady who made the cake. I
decided that these people worked beyond the call of duty so I made them each
a little sculpture appropriate to their part.

Ball 2
This was the big piece for this month. I had done two Quarters of it last
year out of panels but it was really boring welding panels together. I made
the other two quarters out of junk so you have some parts solid and other
parts see through. It looks fantastic and rolls nicely! It is about 1 metre
big and fairly solid!

Slide
This is another
piece in the series focusing on the joys of childhood. This is almost our
first wild sensation where we are able to move in an unaccustomed way. To
climb the slide is always a bit of a challenge but the reward of speed in
the downhill run always was fantastic.
We went
backward, lying down, lying down backward, trying to stand up etc etc. It
really was a great fun activity and I guess we graduate to skiing.( I
haven’t!)

The
feeling of love 1
This is another piece in the “love” series looking at aspects of love and
how we feel. I have portrayed it as being slightly off balance and awkward
yet ,of course, it is positive and showing a degree of determination. It is
interesting how the feeling changes over time and this piece represents the
initial feelings before a degree of certainty and reciprocation occurs.

Butterfingers
I think I saw this idea on the net but I translated it into metal when I
got an old toaster. The hands came out really well and it is quite an eerie
piece.
