Feb 2010 work 2

swimmer seat Although I did a piece like this last year  it was a rememberance for a teacher who died for his school. His wife and sister asked for one too and it took me this long to get around to it. Hence I did two more seats . The blue looks quite good in the garden. Nangara reserve gate Another order. This one for our local community. They gave me the gate frame before xmas but again I let it go. I cut out the shapes with the plasma cutter and I must admit it was a real challenge to manipulate it it in the confines of the shed!.
This piece I wanted to get done for Art Gippsland ( warragul Rotary Art Show) . It is called "The Key" and I love the battered nature of the big heart which can be unlocked by the small heart handled key Dannys flower This piece nagged me by the collection of old chairs I had in my pile. Danny Burton gave me the old chairs and they immediately told me they were flower petals. It took a while to get it done but it looks good. My other flower that I had here went to Ishka as part of the display for their  new display space..
talking rubbish Talking Rubbish is another piece for Art Gippsland. I had the idea of the head shape speaking lots of rubbish which can be interpreted in all sorts of ways. One side of the head is covered with names of the right of politics and the other side is names from the left of politics  ballerinaI thought I did not have enough new and interesting work for Gembrook  I had to redo all my birds and dogs  but I also looked at my pile of junk and there was this junk gear which demanded to be a ballerina. It sold during March.
Trishs aspirants I had a piece called "aspirants" for the Untold stories show in drouin west and a friend saw it after it was sold and asked if I could make a similar but smaller piece for her sons graduation. I thought I had better get it done! Bryan Ros Meadmore had a show called the "Vicarchies" calling for portrait pieces. I thought I should try to extend what I was doing with the coloured inks and this piece is quite big. It is of my friend Bryan Whelan,, the computer teacher at school. However when I showed it to a student and said who it was they said "NO way"  so maybe I still have further to go!
table Another table which I took to Gembrook.  seat This seat also went to Gembrook and then sold next month at the harvest of Gippsland
