Wild Dogs Morwell Exhibition "Unleashed"

The Morwell exhibition was supposed to be a chance to show a range of new work not particularly on any theme. However with so much work needing to be done for the response to China Exhibition in March most of us had a good range of pieces reflecting our China trip. This is mainly my work but also a few of the others pieces. Slack man that I am I didn't photograph all the other bits there.

"Bear headed" is sort of like the wild dog head and uses similar elements such as the horse shoes for ears and the bearing for a nose and the rabbit trap for the mouth

We saw the zoo in JuiJiang and it really is like a 1950 Australian zoo Concrete pens Iron bars and seemingly unhappy animals.

"China surprise" is a reflection on the hotel where on the upper levels everything was perfect but in the lower part at night you could buy almost anything you wanted and anyone you wanted. Hence the snake coming out at the base
"Economy "is based on a chinese coin, token, that combines the elements of circle and square. I call it economy for the fact that lots of bits of junk and chaos work to produce one unified form which is big and impressive. "Identity "is about how we construct an identity which perhaps is a different version to our true selves, made up out of bits and pieces and sometimes able to be seen through
"The shipping news "came from a song one of my ex students sang in a concert about a man rowing through the rain. There was also a scene like this in the book and movie the shipping news "Skipping girl "was part of a series of small figures I am doing relating to childhood pursuits and exploring the power of wire as a structural idea
"Bridge" is a bridge between illusion and reality hence the mirror. Leonies Installation which gave the exhibition a real direction and presence
One of Eileen's paintings Rope Trees . This one is of the bound trees we saw all over China Lake Poyang by Eileen Harrison and Bamboo Gardens
