Wild dogs to China 2007( page 2)

After Drawing in the morning we had another day at the gallery. We all started off there but a group of students arrived and asked to take us to their Master's( teacher) painting room So leaving Kerrie and Chris behind we hopped into taxis( 5 yuan  to us really cheap!)) and went to a small shop in another part of town .The teacher was teaching his students to paint by getting them to do copies of other paintings. Technique was fantastic but I questioned creativity. These were lovely people and the master invited us back to his flat to meet his father , a renowned calligrapher The trip to the flat was amazing going up stairs that were uneven in size, covered in grime, handrails that were rusty and gritty, past all manner of collected junk( as if I couldn't talk) and when we reached the flat it was being redecorated with Italian leather, plasma screen tv and everything you would find in a really wealthy abode. It was a dramatic contrast to the pathway to it!

The family was fantastic in showing us works by different members that had been done and they really were a very artistic family. We did not stay for lunch but headed back to have this with Chris and Kerrie. We had this in a Chinese restaurant under the S and N and the food was fantastic and the waiters and waitresses tried their hardest to help with the language difficulties.

In the afternoon I stayed at the gallery and everyone else went off to visit some other artist studios .
