Diana
Wilson
began painting in 1974 as a member of the Waverly Black Flats Art
Group.
Her
desire to learn portraiture led to weekly classes with John
Balmain in 1987-1988.
At
the same time Diana attended weekly classes with Barbara
August. It was at this time she discovered the joys
of working with pastel.
She
has attended workshops with Alan Martin, David Taylor,
Brian Armstrong, Barbara McManus, Lee
Machalek and Agata Lelek.
In
1992 Diana began weekly classes with Ted Berry
at Deakin University, satisfying a desire to know more about painting
landscape in pastel; this continued until late 1993. Her first love is
still portraiture and in 1995 she returned to classes with Barbara
August which she continued until Barbara retired in
1998 and then weekly classes with Brian
Armstrong until 2000. She attended a 'self-help group portrait
group weekly, at the Malvern
Artists Society, in Melbourne during 2003 &
2004.
She
held her first solo exhibition in September 1997, titled 'Faces
I Have Known',and has participated in
several group exhibitions featuring still life and landscape
paintings.
She
currently teaches at the Corinella Community Centre.
Diana
has been a member of the Victorian Artists Society, Bass Coast
Artists' Society, and Fish Creek Art Group.
