Llanfairbryn The Marquise is one of several ponies flying the flag for Llanfairbryn in New Zealand. At the 2007 Grand National Horse and Pony Championships at Canterbury, Marquise was National Reserve Champion Welsh Exhibit, proudly shown by Anthony for his owner Julie Bagrie of Stonefields stud.
Marquise also scooped the pool in the recent International Online All Welsh Show winning the Sec A gelding 4yao class, then Champion Senior Purebred Welsh Gelding and finally, Supreme Champion Welsh Gelding. So his final tally was 6 firsts, 2 seconds, 1 Reserve, 2 Championships and Supreme. Judges of his section were Kathleen Scot and Sandy Robertson of Bryndefaid Stud in the UK.At the 2008 Grand National Horse and Pony Championships Marquis was Champion First Ridden Pony ridden by Charlotte Roerts who had just turned seven. Charlotte also won Champion Rider and Champion Paced and Mannered. It was Charlotte's first time out on Marquise.
The Marquise is also ridden by Charlotte's nine year old sister Isabella who rode Marquise at his first show under saddle in September 2008 where he won his Best Presented, Novice 12.2hh pony, Open 12.2hh pony, Paced 12.2hh Pony, Mannered 12.2hh Pony, Rider class and went Champion 12.2hh Pony and Reserve Champion Paced & Mannered Pony up to 14.2hh. WHAT A LITTLE SUPERSTAR -RIDDEN BY TWO LITTLE SUPERSTARS!!
