5th Championship Show
20th October 2002

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce your judge for the Illawarra 2002 Championship show.

I first saw this lovely breed when I lived in Africa. Zaire, as it was called then, is a former Belgian colony, so there were many ex-patriots and a number of Belgian Shepherds - all Groenendael - though some not living in the best circumstances.
The latter were mainly used as guard dogs, chained during the day and allowed to roam the property during the night. Not exactly the way we like to socialise our dogs nowadays! I had some small dogs at the time, but I resolved that when we moved back to Europe I would also own one of this beautiful breed. Somewhat naive to think I could stop at one!

My partner in life is of Belgian nationality, and as I speak fluent french I was able to make contact with breeders in Belgium and France and quickly became smitten with the elegance and beauty of continental dogs. Over the years I was involved in importing a number of dogs from both Belgium and France, many of whom have had a lasting influence on the breed in the United Kingdom and who have formed the basis of my breeding lines. I breed on average twice a year, though for the past two years I have had just one litter a year.

As far as Corsini is concerned, the past two years have been particularly memorable as in 2000, I was Top Tervueren Breeder and joint 4th Top Breeder in the United Kingdom for all breeds; in 2001 I ended the year 2nd Top Breeder in the country all
breeds. For this I am much indebted to the many friends who campaigned their Corsini dogs throughout the country. No one ever achieves anything in dogs by just their efforts alone.

For many years I was involved in the Belgian Shepherd Dog Association of Great Britian, serving for one year as assistant secretary, then a further five years as newsletter editor. I currently have eight Tervueren at home, all living in the house as
family dogs.

I have been privileged to judge in many countries abroad including twice at the prestigious French National Speciality. This year I have the honour of being invited to judge at specialities in France, Australia, Holland and Germany and look forward to these assignments.
