The Boats

Sailability utilises the revolutionary Access Dinghy, as an easy to sail introductory craft. The 2.3 Metre Access Dinghy has many unique features. Unlike conventional sailing dinghies, the sailor sits in a comfortable "lazy chair" facing forward, steering is made easy with a simple joystick, and a weighted keel provides stability.

Single and double seat versions are available and a specially fitted "electric" version means that a sailor with a disability who can operate their own electric wheelchair can also experience the exhilaration and independence of sailing.

A number of other craft have also been adopted by Sailability for disabled sailors wanting to extend their experience. The Access 303 is a larger version of the Access 2.3 Dinghy fitted with two sails and can be sailed by one or two people.

The International 2.4mR is the single person Paralympic Class yacht, a scaled down version of the 12 Metre yachts which contest the America's Cup. The International Sonar (the three person Paralympic Class) and the Australian designed Salvo are 7 Metre keelboats which can be sailed by disabled and able-bodied alike for racing or sheer pleasure. Even the Hobie 16 Catamaran can be fitted with "trapseats" to provide disabled sailors with the speed and excitement of multihull sailing.
