Web sites

One of Simon's interests is in building web sites. Including this one. They are created under the registered name of Hovercow. Here are some other sites Simon has designed.

Drouin Baptist Church
Rokeby Chapel
Allure Kitchens & Joinery
Hovercow
Action4wd
Gippsland Bulk Organic Meats
Art Guardians

If you require a web site of your own then you might like to consider asking Simon to work on it with you. It will save you a lot of money compared to using an agency.

CURRENT MOON

Jasmine Leticia Craig
Jasmine was born to Jo & Simon at 2.45AM on Thursday 20th December 2007 at West Gippsland Hospital. We chose Jasmine because we both loved the name from the beginning. Leticia is from Simon's family tree 4 generations ago, except for a slight spelling change.

July 19th - Jasmines first tooth has appeared.

June 20th - Visited the health centre for her 6 month check up. She is above average in length, weight and head circumference. She has reached 8kg.
Jas is trying to crawl but only succeeds in going backwards or in circles on her belly so far. She says bub, dad and mum. She loves to play with her toys and copies us when we show her how to do simple things. Her hair seems to be growing at last.

Five and a half months old and now weighing in at 17lbs. Jas isn't very interested in anything other than breast milk and she is continuing to stack on the weight so we won't push the solids too hard at this stage.

May 13th - We dropped into the child health centre and weighed Jasmine. She is now 7.33kg which translates into 16lb 2oz. Jo has started feeding Jas some rice cereal mixed with breast milk and we might try adding a little bit of pumpkin just to get her used to the taste of solid foods.

March 20th - Jas is very happy and alert. She weighs 6.5kg now. She likes to have long conversations in baby words and joins in with us when we sing to her. She likes to sleep on her side sometimes now and we are guessing it won't be long before she rolls from her back to her front. She is a great sleeper. On most nights she will go for a full 10 to 12 hours without waking up. Click on each picture in the slide show as it scrolls past to view that picture as a larger image.

On Thursday, beginning her 11th week, Jas rolled herself over from her front to her back for the first time. There is a short "Show Time" video we recorded for you to watch her doing the rollover.

February 22nd - Can you believe it? Jasmine is 2 months old.
She had her health checkup yesterday (Feb 21st) and she now weighs 12lbs 12.5 ounces (5800g). She continues to grow in length and is over 2 feet long - 60.50cm. She is sleeping (sometimes up to 12 hours at night) and feeding really well and doesn't have any problems changing between breast and bottle. She is a very healthy and alert baby who is quick with a smile.

At her 4 week health assessment Jasmine weighed 10lbs 3 1/2ozs (4630g) and measured 58cm long, with a head circumference of 38.5cm.

She weighed 8lb 12oz (3970g). She was 55cm long and her head measured 36cm.
We brought Jasmine home on Saturday 22nd and she settled in very well.

Si in front of Bus

Jo is taking 12 months maternity leave from her job as a computer technician at LE Computers in Warragul and will enjoy the year being a full time mum. She has enrolled and started completing a Certificate 3 in Multimedia at GippsTafe which will then allow her to go on to do the Certificate 4 and qualify her to design and manage Websites.

Simon is working as a bus driver for Grenda's at the Cardinia Transit depot in Pakenham driving on "Track". He is also "driver trainer" at Cardinia depot and responsible for teaching new drivers depot procedures and familiarisation of bus routes.
Simon has recently spen
t 4 weeks as a planning trainee at Grenda's in Dandenong. He is hoping to secure a full time position which will open up a whole new career path in the public transport industry. He should know later in the year whether he has been successful.

Chooks
Silver Laced Wyandottes
It was a project which began about 2 years ago and has finally been completed in January 2008 while Simon has been on holidays. It was a dilapidated shed in the rear corner of our allotment which needed some restoration and conversion into a suitable enclosure for keeping up to 10 hens in accordance with Local Laws. We now have 3 hens
Image

They have settled in to their new home and seem happy in their enclosure. They have an undercover section for roosting & laying and a seperate section for feeding as well as an outdoor area behind the hen house. They are also free to range around the back yard during the day and always put themselves to bed and night. We have a first season ISA Brown who has been a regular layer since we got her. Also we have a first season Plymoth Rock and a second season Silver Laced Wyandotte.

We moved into our home on the 24th of June 2005. It is a 3 bedroom timber house with a tile roof. The house is 50+ years old and needs some cosmetic work done to it to freshen it up but apart from that it is in pretty good condition. Last year we had the roof re-bedded and pointed and sprayed with a product from Roof Shield which is supposed to last for 15 years. It has certainly given the roof a lift and the finish appears to be weathering much better than other houses in our street which were done around the same time using different techniques. There is room underneath the back of the house due to the gradient of the block to build a 2 room extension and we plan to do this when we are able. The carport and driveway needs re-concreting and we will hopefully proceed with this sometime after April 2008. A retaining wall is also being planned to give us a level back yard so that our kids have somewhere to play safely. You can view photos of our house by clicking on one of the JAlbum links on the side Menu Bar.

Meet Carlos Eduardo Gradi Bautista. He is a young boy we are now sponsoring through Compassion. He lives with his mother and a brother in Honduras where over half the population survive below the poverty line. Sadly his father has passed away. Carlos helps around the home by making beds, doing various domestic chores and cleaning. Carlos' mother is sometimes able to earn a small wage by selling goods at the market place. Though she works hard she constantly struggles to provide for the two children in her family.
Soccer, playing with toy cars and with marbles are Carlos' favourite activities. He is in primary school where he is steadily progressing in his studies. Carlos also attends church programs and goes to Bible class.
